  • Richardson Appeal Dismissed

    The Greyhound Racing Appeals Tribunal yesterday dismissed an appeal on penalty by trainer Mr John Richardson, issued under GAR 83 (2) (a) following a Stewards inquiry into analyst’s reports that Firocoxib had been detected in the urine sample taken from Kay Nine at Dapto on 23 July 2009. The tribunal accepted an amended plea to guilty at the commencement of the hearing. The penalty of four months disqualification was confirmed, to commence from 26 October 2009.

    The inquiry into the Analyst’s finding of a prohibited substance in the urine sample taken from Runner Runner after that greyhound finished in 1st place in race 5 (Mavis Deignan stake 5th Grade 506m) at the Lithgow meeting on 15 August 2009 was to be conducted today but has now been adjourned until next Friday 9 October 2009 at 10am.

    Greyhound Racing NSW Stewards have questioned trainer Mr T Iwanyk regarding the nomination of Red Shilling for Wentworth Park this Saturday night 3 October 2009, after he had reported that the greyhound will be returned to Western Australia following its poor performance in a heat of the Sydney Cup last Saturday night.

    Greyhound Racing NSW would like to advise that Ms Jodie Gilbert has appealed her 12 month disqualification which was due to commence on 26 September 2009. Due to the pending appeal, Judge Haylen has granted a Stay of Proceeding until the appeal has been heard.

    The Greyhound Racing Appeals Tribunal yesterday dismissed an appeal by trainer Mr Wayne Hogan against a conviction under GAR 106 (1) (d) issued subsequent to Stewards inquiries on 1 June 2009 and 6 August 2009. The original penalty of twelve months disqualification was varied to expire on 5 June 2010.
