    An inquiry into the analyst’s finding of dexamethasone in the urine sample taken from Cawbourne Tuf prior to that greyhound finishing in 2nd place in Race 5 at the Wentworth Park meeting on 1 June 2009, will be conducted at GRNSW offices on Thursday 17 September 2009 at 10am.
  • Substance Alert: FIROCOXIB

    Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) today issued a warning to members of the sport about the prolonged excretion time of the prohibited substance Firocoxib, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) commonly found in the registered veterinary product PREVICOX. As a NSAID, Firocoxib is screened for in samples taken from greyhounds and the detection of this substance in a sample would constitute an offence under Greyhound Australasia Rule 83.
  • Smart Suspended For Three Months

    GRNSW Stewards yesterday conducted an inquiry into analyst’s reports that the urine sample taken from Shy Bond after it won at Wentworth Park on 22 June 2009, contained the prohibited substances Caffeine, Theobromine, Theophylline and Paraxanthine. The owner-trainer Mr Malcolm Smart pleaded guilty to the charge of presenting Shy Bond for a race containing a prohibited substance and after considering submissions Mr Smart was suspended for a period of three (3) months, until 20 November 2009.
  • Simmons Appeal Upheld

    The Greyhound Racing Appeals Tribunal yesterday considered an appeal by Lithgow Greyhound Racing Club starter and Identification Steward Mr Kevin Simmons against an order from Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) Stewards that he be stood down from identification duties at that Club following his involvement in identification errors at the Lithgow meetings on the 6th and 13th June this year.
