Appeal - David Irwin
Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) advises that the Racing Appeals Tribunal has determind on an appeal by David Irwin.
The appeal related to the finding of guilt and the severity of the penalty determined by the Stewards for five breaches of the GRNSW Greyhound Racing Rules for failing to comply with the Race Day Hydration and Hot Weather Policy.
Consistent with the decision of the Stewards, the tribunal confirmed Mr Irwin’s conviction for five breaches of the Race Day Hydration and Hot Weather Policy.
The tribunal agreed with the Stewards that a 16 week suspension was an appropriate starting point for determination of penalty for a breach of the Race Day Hydration and Hot Weather Policy, however, ruled that because of subjective factors raised by Mr Irwin that it was appropriate to wholly suspend the 16 week suspension on the condition that Mr Irwin be of good behaviour for 12 months.
In reaching its decision, the tribunal found that compliance with Race Day Hydration and Hot Weather Policy was mandatory for all participants.
GRNSW reminds all participants that they may face penalties under the GRNSW Greyhound Racing Rules if they do not comply with the new requirements to provide water to their greyhounds in kennels.
