Collars & Leads Podcast Launch
In a frank an open interview, Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) CEO Tony Mestrov discussed the major isuses facing the industry as part of the first episode of renowned greyhound broadcaster Mark Duclos' new podcast.
The interview (split into two parts, beginning at 9:40 and 44:43), covers a variety of topics including track maintenance, programming, grading and GRNSW's charity rehoming program - Greyhounds As Pets.
“For the first time in a number of years, I actually have confidence in the men that are running GRNSW and while they will ultimately be judged by their actions and results, I think we can see that they mean business and should be given a chance to execute their strategies," said Duclos.
"I just hope they get the right support from the NSW Government because that will be absolutely crucial to the future of our industry on so many levels.”
Duclos has launched the weekly podcast with the goal of providing informative and engaging content to those involved in the industry, whether they are an owner, trainer, breeder or administrator.
“After nearly 30 years as a Greyhound Journalist and Broadcaster, I’m thoroughly enjoying the freedom of being an independent Broadcaster once again, which means that no topic will be off-limits,"
"It’s no secret to a lot of people that the last 12 months at my previous employer was extremely challenging, primarily due to the restraints that they placed upon me about what I could and couldn’t discuss on-air, but thankfully, that won’t be the case with our Collars & Leads Podcast."
Sponsored by Ladbrokes as part of the book makers commitment to the industry, each episode consists of six key segments; In The Spotlight, Track Talk, Studs & Sires, Anthony's Analysis (featuring prominent trainer Anthony Azzopardi), Turn Back Time and Making Headlines. Through these segments, all matters relating to news, previews, odds and regulatory issues are discussed.
The podcast drops each Wednesday afternoon and is available for download from the Collars & Leads website, the Collars & Leads Facebook page; or via-the Soundcloud app.
