Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) advises that the Gunnedah meeting for Saturday, 27 January 2018 has been amended due to extreme temperatures forecast in the area.

With temperatures at Gunnedah forecast to reach 38°C on Saturday, this meeting has now been moved to earlier in the day and will commence at 10.15am. Kennelling will occur between 8.30am - 9:30am with scratchings to close by Friday 4pm.

Due to Friday being a public holiday, any scratchings after 4pm Thursday will need to go through to the Gunnedah Club.

Nominations close for Gunnedah, Wednesday 24th January, 9am.

A further assessment of the forecast temperatures at Gunnedah will be completed closer to Saturday and participants are encouraged to regularly check the GRNSW website for any race schedule changes due to extreme heat.

The safety and welfare of greyhounds is of paramount concern for GRNSW in determining whether a race meeting or individual races on a program should proceed, be delayed or abandoned in hot weather conditions.

Decisions to transfer or cancel meetings are made after careful consideration and continual monitoring of the forecast weather conditions with GRNSW also taking into account the predicted temperature for travel times to and from the venue as well as at the track.

Under GRNSW’s Hot Weather Policy, stewards may abandon a race meeting in the event the temperature rises above 38°C or is likely to rise above this temperature.

Clubs must also abandon trials where the temperature rises above 38°C or when the temperature is likely to rise above 38°C.
