Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) has charged two greyhound racing participants in relation to comments made by them on social media regarding various officers and employees of GRNSW and the NSW Government.

Greyhound racing participants Bob Whitelaw and Tony Gannon face charges under R86(f), (g), (o), (q) and (ag) and LR86(b) and (c) of the GRNSW Greyhound Racing Rules (Rules), relating to the publication of allegedly offensive comments and conduct which is improper or prejudicial to the interest of greyhound racing.  Inquiries into the charges will also consider whether the comments breached the GRNSW Public Comment Policy.

GRNSW recognises the value of public comment and robust discussion in the community, but wishes to remind all participants of their obligations under the Rules and the GRNSW Public Comment Policy (which can be found here). Industry participants are viewed as ambassadors for the industry, and should take care and demonstrate respect in communications relating to the industry and its members.

As the inquiry is ongoing, GRNSW will not make any further comment on the matter at this stage.
