The Lithgow meeting scheduled for this Saturday (20 May) has been abandoned for safety and welfare reasons.
Greyhound Racing NSW (GRNSW) made the decision after it received a report from an independent engineer, which found that the Bramich lure system posed a safety risk to greyhounds.
Urgent work will now be undertaken to repair the lure system. It is envisaged, weather permitting, that the lure system will be repaired and deemed safe enough to use for racing and trialling purposes prior to the Lithgow’s next scheduled meeting on Saturday, 27 May.
Under the GRNSW Greyhound Racing Rules, all prizemoney allocated to Lithgow’s meeting this Saturday will be distributed evenly among the participants who had greyhounds entered to compete.
GRNSW apologises to participants for any inconvenience caused by the meeting abandonment, however, the safety and welfare of greyhounds needs to always be put first in these circumstances.
