Greyhound Racing NSW is delighted to announce the introduction of two new middle-distances feature events to be staged in the Northern Rivers.

Both events will be run as a series with heats and then a final worth $25,000 to the winner, and each series has been programmed in the lead-up to the world’s richest middle-distance event, the Ladbrokes Country Classic.

The new events will be run during February at Casino and Grafton, and both series will be named after the iconic rivers synonymous with the two great regional greyhound towns.

At Casino the series will be known as The Richmond and run over 620m with heats on Thursday February 8, and the final on Tuesday February 13.

Grafton’s new series which will be run over the 660m, will be known as The Clarence, and those heats will be held on Sunday February 18 with the final on Sunday February 25.

Both Non-Grade series will be run for the best greyhounds nominated plus reserves. Prizemoney for the heats will be $4,000 to the winner. As well as prizemoney for the finals being $25,000 to the winner, a bonus of $5,000 will be paid if the same greyhound wins both series.

Additionally, The Clarence final will double as the Grafton heat of the Ladbrokes Country Classic with the first four placegetters from The Clarence final qualifying for the Country Classic semi-finals which will be run on March 9 at Dubbo.

The $125,000 final of the Ladbrokes Country Classic in 2024, will again be held at Dubbo, on March 16.
