Brooklyn Brute To Make It Two From Two

Punters who sent out newcomer Brooklyn Brute as a red hot $1.28 favourite at Richmond last Wednesday got a nasty shock when he bungled the start so racegoers will be banking on a better getaway when the youngster contests Wednesday night's 520m Flying Ricciardo At Stud Stakes at the same track.

An unexpected error occurred.

Last week Brooklyn Brute, just 22 months of age, had box one but was last to leave the traps before storming along the rails to win by eight lengths.

The Kerry Drynan-trained dog covered the 520m in 29.79, excellent time considering he had jumped so poorly.

"Brooklyn Brute has come out better in trials but just hasn't quite figured it all out yet,'' Drynan said.

"His sister Can't Hurry Love, who finished fourth at her first start last week, has box three in Wednesday's Ladbroke It! Maiden but while she isn't as strong asĀ  her brother she has more early pace.

"Box three isn't great for her though because she wants to move up the track.''

Bell Mac Blazer's dam Tina's Magic cost her owner-trainer Brendan McHattan just $3,000 but her offspring have now earned over $550,000.

McHattan will be hoping Bell Mac Blazer can add to that tally when she exits box seven in Wednesday's GRNSW Middle Distance Series over 622m.

Bell Mac Blazer has had six starts over the Richmond 622m trip for three wins and two placings and McHattan is happy with her box seven draw on Wednesday.

An unexpected error occurred.

Bell Mac Blazer won twice from box seven over 520m at Cannington in WA before she came to NSW and made full use of another wide alley, box eight, when she won at Richmond on February 23.

That night she led all the way and posted a fast 35.57 for the middle-distance trip, far and away her best Richmond time and much quicker than any of her rivals on Wednesday has recorded.

McHattan said: "I expect Bell Mac Blazer to go well because she is down in class compared to the opposition she has faced at her past couple of starts.''

Zipping Oreo is tackling 622m for the first time on Wednesday night but if ever a dog looked suited to that journey it is this Tyler Ginn-trained son of Fliyng Ricciardo and Zipping Truvy.

An unexpected error occurred.

Last Wednesday in a 520m event Zipping Oreo rattled home after being last early and won running away by three lengths in the moderate time of 30.22.

Zipping Oreo is bred to be better suited beyond a sprint trip as his dam Zipping Truvy was a former Bathurst 618m record holder who was placed twice over 720m at Wentworth Park and won over 715m at The Gardens.

Best bet on Wednesday should be Ritza Trish, who has box five in the Bistro Open For Dinner Stakes, a 622m mixed stakes.

An unexpected error occurred.

Ritza Trish has won over 520m at Wentworth Park and with a best Richmond 622m time of 35.95 she is the only runner to have broken 36sec at the track.

Ritza Trish has had three Richmond 622m tests for a win and two placings while her past three Wentworth Park 520m assignments have resulted in two seconds and a third.

In Wednesday night's GRNSW Middle Distance Final, the rails box could enable Lady Exit to turn the tables on her heat rivals Emgrand Centre and Esme Watson.

An unexpected error occurred.

In last week's fastest heat, Emgrand Centre defeated Esme Watson by four lengths with Lady Exit a length away third.

But in that race, Lady Exit was hampered getting across to the rails from box six and will relish the move to box one on Wednesday.

Before last week's race her trainer Simon Ma said he expected whatever his bitch did in the heat would see her improve in the final.

Best Bet Ritza Trish (race 2)
Best Value Zipping Oreo (race 3)
